I'm on a mission to get all of my unfinished projects done. This is fabric my mom bought for me for my birthday. I got to choose it (I don't think anyone would choose this fabric for someone else) Ha ha! I think everyone has pretty well guessed that I like some weird fabric combos.
This one was done 100% by me! It's a first! Sewed it, tied it, and bound it. It's super soft too!

Meaningful Chaos... 10 Years in the Making
I have been back at the quilting frames and sewing machine. I've finally finished the very first quilt I ever started, but a little background first to explain why the quilt is so random looking.
My family has been lugging around this green trunk for years and I never knew what was in it. About 10 years ago I finally looked inside. It was completely full of random fabric. I asked why we still had it. My dad tells me that all the fabric inside belonged to my grandma Hatch. We had no use for that much fabric so my parents were going to throw it away. I freaked out! I needed to figure out a way to keep it. It belonged to my grandmother! So it dawned on me to make a quilt out of all the different pieces, that way I could keep a bit of each one. I cut out all the squares and sewed them all together within a month or two of the fabric's discovery. Then... it got put away in a drawer and not looked at again for years. I remember it a few years ago and dug it out. I found a piece for the back. Then it went dormant again... Well I dug it out again last year and was bound and determined it get it finished! But, I didn't have batting for it... Hence, more dormant time. Last week was the last straw. I made a special trip to the fabric store to get the batting and get it done! I got the batting cut out, and all the pieces up on the frames, and the tying finished on Wednesday! All that was left was the binding. I was going to wait until next week to get it all finished but I decided that I'd waited long enough! (Obviously) So I went back over to my parent's house today to bind and finish it.
Here is the finished product...
I am proud to announce that I did this one almost totally by myself. The back piece had to be sewn from two pieces. My Mom did that. My Dad assisted me with getting it tact on the frames for tying. Other than that... I sewed the squares, tied it, and bound it. I'm really horrible at binding so I was pretty proud of myself this time. :)
I will enjoy this blanket a lot. What better for me than a blanket that seems to have no rhyme or reason.

Me binding the edge. Don't mind the totally scary hair...
In the process...

The Guy's Trip
That's right. This post has nothing to do with me. I was not there. I got to stay home and hold down the fort. Anyway....
Houston and is friends, Sam and Cameron decided months ago to take a guy's trip to Seattle over Spring Break to visit their friends out there. They left last Thursday. I did get to ride to the airport to drop them off so I was slightly involved. I will tell you about the trip based on pictures taken by Houston.
P.S. I'm so proud that he took pictures. :)
I'll go in order of how they were on the camera...
First off... All the guys...

A very pretty camera test.
A menu from one of the MANY Asian restaurants they ate at while there.
And... They actual food served. It looks fantastic!
This is the end of their trip. I was bummed that I didn't get to go. But I'm glad Houston had a good time. The Seattle guys are awesome. I told him next time I AM going. Lol! :)

One of the best games ever!
JUST DANCE!!!
This game is so much fun! We got it after we got our Wii for Christmas. I played like mad for a long time. Then I got sick and it wasn't so easy to play anymore, so I haven't for awhile. If you haven't played it... Here is the best song on "Just Dance 2"
P.S. This song is really hard. I should apologize now. You will get this song stuck in your head. Lol!

The "Not" Valentine's Day flowers.....
So, I mentioned in my Valentine's Day post that Houston didn't want to get me flowers on that day because it's expected. It was going to be a surprise. Well, It's been about a week since "the surprise" and I'm just getting around to posting about it. But first... A little background and my thoughts on why I received them when I did.
Last Thursday the lady that I sub for at the Post Office went on a week and a half vacation to Las Vegas for Nascar. I went into it a little scared but I thought it would be easy considering I started on Thursday, and the mail is usually light towards the end of the week. Well... it wasn't. One of the clerks actually joked that he knew I was coming in because the mail was heavy. (It has happened before) Well, I was a little frustrated and burst into tears a few times. Houston called and I wasn't exactly under control yet, so he got to listen to me cry on the phone. Then a little bit later he text me and asked if he could go to the Jazz game with his work. He felt really bad but they were really awesome seats and he really wanted to go. I didn't want him to miss out on account of me, so I just sucked it up. Lol! When I finally got off work I drove to my parent's house, since Houston wasn't home. I needed to vent. While I was there Houston asked me if I was home. I found out why he was wondering soon enough....
These were waiting for me.
Houston is so good about getting me things that are unusual. Which I prefer. He is so great! They are lovely! He is so thoughtful. I'm so glad that he gave them to me then and not on Valentine's Day. They meant so much more. He gets so worried about me when I get worked up. I don't know where I would be without his support. He isn't the only one. My whole family have become my cheerleaders. I always have a kind word when I get stressed. My sister's work for the post office too, so they know exactly what I'm going through and remind me that it's just my job, not my life. (it's hard to leave it there) Then there are my friends. They get that it's not easy and they give me kind words too.
Thanks everybody who has been there for me!

Now an update, I've only got 3 days left of the week and a half and it's getting better each day. The mail is not always light, but I have learned that I can only do the best I can do. So I do my best and get done and when I get done. I'm getting faster and it's not a huge crisis when the mail is a bit messed up.
I had a post that was a vent fest about the stupid things that happen on the job. I decided to delete it because I don't want to be negative about the job. I can't complain too much. I get paid almost as much as I did at Macey's. Deference is, at Macey's I worked 32 hours a week and at the post office I only work 1 day a week. I got paid $10.50 an hour at Macey's and now it's $19.45 an hour. Granted the job is about 20 times more hard, but still. I don't mind my situation at all.
